Sclocket is a dance-theatre showcase by graduating students from the University of Cape Town’s (UCT) Centre for Theatre, Dance and Performance Studies.
Through various factors and mechanisms, Sclocket navigates narratives that centre friendship, loss, family, and the complexities surrounding them. This dance-theatre piece draws inspiration from the movement dramaturgy and technique work that underpins embodiment. It challenges the notion of dance material as a finite vocabulary when exploring storytelling. All of this was achieved through text work crafted from movement sessions. This original piece of work is a proud showcase of the abilities of these dancer performers as future dance theatre makers.
