The future of education was in sharp focus at the University of Cape Town’s (UCT) Heads of Mission Breakfast on 12 February, hosted by Vice-Chancellor Professor Mosa Moshabela.

The 2026 theme was “The future of education, research, science, technology and innovation: Building bridges for global progress”. Attendees heard from the High Commissioner of Canada, ambassadors from Sweden, Brazil, and the European Union Delegation, among others. “What we see in UCT’s plan is a redoubling of its efforts to be agile in its innovation and to be able to respond to the challenges in a way which brings together industry, academia and business,” said UCT Emeritus Professor Danie Visser at the event.
