UCT executive and SRC reach agreement

30 January 2023

Dear colleagues

Following disruptions on campus over the past two days, the University of Cape Town (UCT) executive has reached an agreement with the Students' Representative Council (SRC) over some of the urgent issues they have raised.

The executive has put every effort possible into engaging with the SRC and resolving the issues as speedily as possible. As a result, all university activities will continue as usual without any disruptions on Tuesday, 31 January 2023.

The Kramer Building that was occupied by a few students will also return to full operation, and staff based in this building can resume their duties on campus.

The executive wishes to express gratitude to the members of the UCT leadership involved in the engagements, as well as the SRC members for engaging in a fruitful manner which resulted in a resolution being reached.

As has always been characteristic of the university leadership, the UCT executive remains committed to engaging with the SRC and resolving issues amicably.
