On Friday, 21 October, the Academic Advising Project in the Centre for Higher Education Development (CHED) hosted an appreciation event for its first cohort of Phambili peer advisors. Phambili was launched as a self-development programme for students who need to rediscover their academic motivation. The pilot, launched in March 2022, emphasised student agency and responsibility in their success while also enabling access to institutional resources and support. Academic Advising Project lead, Dr Riashna Sithaldeen, acknowledged the peer advisors for the important and generous role they played in supporting students throughout the programme. Afterwards, peer advisors shared their experiences of both providing and benefitting from this community of care.
