COVID-19 Vaccine Status Declaration

03 June 2022 | Dr Reno Morar, COO

Dear colleagues and students

The University of Cape Town (UCT) is committed to doing everything we can as an institution to reduce any possible risk of spreading COVID-19 within the campus community. This institutional commitment relies on every individual taking the responsibility to do what we each can, to help reduce this risk.

I am writing to share with you a very simple way through which you can help, by providing accurate information, into the UCT Vaccine Status Declaration system. This request is in line with the COVID-19 Code of Practice released by the Department of Employment and Labour on 15 February 2022, which came into effect as of 4 May 2022.

This information is for statistical purposes only and unless mandated by the National Department of Health, will not be shared with anyone. This process has also been approved by our Protection of Personal information Act (POPIA) consultants.

You can declare your vaccination status by going to the UCT Health Centre, then click on the “Manage Vaccine Status” button. While the uploading of your vaccine certificate is on a voluntary basis, we encourage you to do so.

We also urge you to read the VC Desk released on 26 April 2022 which outlines UCT’s current approach to managing COVID-19.

Sincerely

Dr Reno Morar
Chief Operating Officer
Chair of the COVID-19 Co-ordinating Committee
