In remembrance: Lufuno Nathan

08 October 2019 | The UCT Executive

Dear colleagues and students

It is with immense sorrow that we share the news of the unexpected death of our student Ms Lufuno Nathan (22) on Tuesday, 1 October 2019.

Ms Nathan started her University of Cape Town (UCT) journey in 2015 and was studying towards a Bachelor of Social Science degree majoring in gender studies, and politics and governance.

She has been described as someone who worked very hard to get to grips with new and often challenging ideas. She worked with courage and a spirit of adventure. She will be remembered as having been caring, sweet and thoughtful.

Ms Nathan is survived by her parents, Tsepo and Shumani Nathan, her brother, Matlotlo, and her sister, O’arabile.

The funeral will take place on Sunday, 13 October, in Venda, Limpopo.

The university has reached out to offer support to the Nathan family, and our heartfelt condolences go out to them and all who knew Ms Nathan.

Sincerely

The UCT Executive
