UCT won big at the annual MACE (Marketing, Advancement and Communication in Education) Excellence Awards, scooping up a total of 16 awards.

The event, which was the highlight of the 2017 MACE congress, celebrated the excellence of marketing, advancement and communication practitioners within the higher education sector.

A total of 13 awards went to UCT’s Communication and Marketing Department (CMD), while a further three were presented to the university’s Centre for Innovation in Learning and Teaching (CILT).

Chief among these were two gold awards, which were presented for the newly launched UCT news website (CMD) and for the video content from the Extinctions: Past and Present MOOC (CILT).

“We are extremely proud that the work of the CMD team has been recognised by our peers in the communication and marketing industry within the higher education sector,” said Gerda Kruger and Kylie Hatton, executive director and director of CMD.

“While it has been a challenging and hard-working year for the team, we have produced exceptional work of which we can be extremely proud.”

“CMD has a reputation for being a department that produces excellent work under pressure and once again the team has done us very proud – well done!”
