Aspiring thespians take note: applications for the eighth annual Zabalaza Theatre Festival are now open.

The festival, which takes place from 9 to 16 March 2018, is regarded as one of the top platforms of theatre development in South Africa. Since its inception in 2011, the festival has consistently showcased new talent that may have otherwise not been seen on professional stages.

Successfully selected productions will participate in the Zabalaza mini-festivals in January and February 2018, when the final selection for the festival will be made.

Festival organisers are looking for one or two-handers, children’s theatre productions, puppetry, musical or physical theatre, drama, comedy and storytelling.

The deadline for applications is 18 September 2017. Auditions take place between October and December 2017.
