UCT expresses concern about protesters interfering with campus activity

19 October 2015 | Campus Update

UCT confirms that a group of about two hundred students are gathered outside the Bremner Building. The Acting Vice-Chancellor and some senior members of the executive are with them. The executive remain committed to discussion and are attempting to persuade the group to join them at the table for talks.

We remain very concerned that the protest action is unlawful and that the action of students has bought the operations of the campus to a standstill. We are concerned that the protesters are interfering with the rights of the university executive to move freely.
