Transformation in song

Renowned composer and musician Philip MillerRenowned composer and musician Philip Miller presented a talk at UCT on 3 March as part of the Month of Transformation. In the talk, titled Music and Transformation, Miller, a UCT law graduate, outlined the process of producing his award-winning choral work, Rewind: a Cantata for Voice, Tape and Testimony. Designed and directed by Gerhard Marx, the work features vocalists Sibongile Khumalo, Fikile Mvinjelwa, Arthur Swan and Kimmy Kota, is based on the testimonies of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, and commemorates the victims of apartheid. It has been performed in Johannesburg, the US and the UK, and will appear at the Baxter Theatre in May.
