Communication and marketing awards for UCT

UCT MACE award winnersWinning ways: Communication and Marketing Department (CMD)'s Aloysious Gowne, Joan Tuff of the Faculty of Health Sciences, Gerda Kruger (CMD), Candice King (CMD), Eltena Dirks of SHAWCO, and Pauline Alexander of the Faculty of Law celebrate MACE awards.

UCT scooped five accolades at this year's Marketing, Advancement and Communication in Education (MACE) conference in Johannesburg in October.

The Students' Health and Wellness Centres Organisation (SHAWCO) took home the social responsibility category for its various outreach projects; Allison Stevens, a communication officer with the School of Public Health and Family Medicine in the Faculty of Health Sciences, finished second in the same category for her information sheets campaign.

The Faculty of Law's fundraising initiative, Law 150, won the fundraising category; UCT's Campus Accomodation 2010 initiative was awarded the MACE Excellence Award in the events management category; and the "We say enough" protest against crime won the Mace Excellence Award in the media relations/publicity category.
