"Women are the hottest thing ever!" Dora Sithole, editor of True Love magazine, told UCT students.

Sithole was the keynote speaker at the opening event of InvestSoc's Young Women in Finance Programme, held on 10 April.

Young Women in Finance, launched in 2005 by UCT students, was a three-day conference that has since developed into a year-long programme. Its focus is on mentorship where professional women advise and inspire students.

Sithole's address centered on the book Womenomics by Claire Shipman and Kitty Kay. The authors argue that women are of increasing value in the workplace and must leverage this development to demand greater flexibility and more manageable schedules.

She emphasised the importance of maintaining healthy relationships while simultaneously juggling all of life's responsibilities.

"We need to dictate and set our own rules for the sake of our families and our health," said Sithole.

The students came away from the evening feeling challenged to dream bigger and do better. One student commented, "I had an amazing time being in the company of these inspirational women, and found it uplifting and motivating."
