UCT medical student Saadiq Moolla bagged the bronze medal at the International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI), held in the Mubarak City for Education, 30 km West of Cairo, Egypt, in August.

Moolla was one of two UCT students on the South African team at the IOI, which attracted 283 entrants from 73 countries.

Over two days, the competitors wrote a score of computer programmes to solve given problems. Mark Danoher, a computer science student, was UCT's second representative in the SA team.
