Students vie in top competition

Two UCT business-science teams have reached the national finals of the prestigious L'Oreal Brandstorm international marketing competition.

Team Cape Persuasion, comprising Celeste Adonis, Aletha Jaftha and Melissa Rassie, as well as Team Rooibos, which is made up of Ruth Chapman, Tatum Howie and Nontu Mashaba, will compete with five other teams from universities and advertising schools around the country on 15 May in Johannesburg.

The winning team will earn a place in the international finals to be held in Paris, France, in June to compete for the world title, new job opportunities and a tour of the globe. L'Oreal Brandstorm is a marketing game that allows students throughout the world to design a make-believe Vichy sun block product for the L'Oreal brand, as well as a marketing campaign to launch that product.

UCT has a good record in the competition, having won at least two of the last three national finals.
