IME hosts first learning event

10 April 2007

The Institute of Monitoring and Evaluation (IME) recently broke the ice on its short-course programme when it hosted its first series of workshops in Pretoria and Cape Town.

The weeklong workshops were presented by national and international evaluation specialists - many from the US - and drew delegates from Botswana, the Eastern Cape, Bloemfontein and Worcester.

As with the honours and master's programmes launched this year, the focus of the IME workshop was the evaluation of public sector and human resources programmes.

UCT's School of Management Studies established the IME to meet a need for training in monitoring and evaluation. According to IME director Professor Joha Louw-Potgieter, the workshops were a huge success.

"This learning event has shown that UCT has responded appropriately and that there are great opportunities for growth and support in this area," said Louw-Potgieter.
