Eno exhibition for Michaelis

19 February 2007

Brian Eno, founder member of Roxy Music and renowned music producer and sound/light artist, will exhibit his 77 Million Paintings at the Michaelis Gallery from 19 to 28 February. More than 300 digital light paintings, most of them scratched or inked onto slides, were digitised to create 77 Million Paintings. The constantly evolving paintings will be shown on a group of screens. It would take over 9 000 years to watch the entire show at the fastest speed available on the software and several million years to see all the possible combinations. Installations of the exhibition have already been shown at both the 50th International Festival of Contemporary Music at the Venice Biennale and the Milan Triennale 2006. Eno will also be a key speaker at the 10th Design Indaba Conference in Cape Town from 21 to 23 February.
