UCT info on website

Website www.ipd.uct.ac.za is the portal for information on the academic planning, institutional information and quality assurance functions performed through the Institutional Planning Department (IPD) for UCT.

The website has a host of useful information, including details of the Learning Cape Festival, membership of the Cape Higher Education Consortium and the forthcoming Institutional Audit by the Higher Education Quality Committee (HEQC).

The site's academic planning section gives details of the unit's functions and information for faculties intending to introduce new programmes.

A great deal of detail is available within the institutional information section, including faculty reports, contact details for users with ad hoc data requests, and statistics derived from the internal cycle of reporting.

The IPD and the Centre for Higher Education Development(CHED) are responsible for ensuring quality assurance (QA) mechanisms are active at UCT. The section on quality assurance is thus relevant for those preparing their academic self-review portfolios within the intended five-yearly cycle. The QA policy as well as a detailed explanation about the process and timetable for academic self reviews is made available in the QA section. In addition, a useful glossary is provided to assist with terms often found in UCT's quantitative reports.

The HEQC section deals with UCT's preparation for the HEQC audit visit that takes place from May 16 to 20.

Correction

In the Vol 24#08 edition of Monday Paper it was reported that Professor Anwar Mall is from the Department of Medicine. He is from the Department of Surgery. We regret the error.
