To commemorate the "coming of age" of the original "Marathon-Man Guinea Pig" study in 1983, where complete novices trained to run their first full marathon, the Sports Science Institute of SA (SSISA) has launched a new programme. The SSISA will host a series of workshops that will take participants day-by-day and step-by-step to realise one of the three goals - the Old Mutual Two Oceans Half-Marathon (21.1km), the Puma Peninsula Marathon (42.2km) or the Old Mutual Two Oceans Ultra Marathon (56km), scheduled over February and March 2005. The first of the workshops takes place on Monday, November 22, while the others will run in January and March. For more information contact Megan Lloyd on
