Twist and turn: Groote Schuur's Babalwa July (in blue) turns to escape the attentions of Carinus' Prudence Mohlakoane during the women's final of the annual KKS Inter-Res Soccer Tournament. Groote Schuur won the match 1-0.

Groote Schuur and Forest Hill residences were crowned, respectively, women's and men's champions of this year's KKS Inter-Res Soccer Tournament, held over the weekend of August 29 to 31.

The Groote Schuur side just got the better of Carinus in the women's final, winning the match 1-0, thanks to a penalty by Zizpho Mmango in the first half. Forest Hill won the men's event, beating Clarendon A 2-0 in the final.

Funded by Kagiso Khulani Supervision Food Services (who cater for UCT residences), the event is a popular feature on the residences' sporting calendar, attracting 30 to 40 teams and hordes of boisterous fans each year.
