Proverb in many sources

I refer to the article UCT beefs up financial management (Monday Paper 22#18, July 14 - 20, 2003). The "interesting phrase" used by Dr Mamphela Ramphele may be an "African proverb" alluding to the need to call in the strongest person in the proverbial village to get the job done. It is also a well-known Afrikaans saying, "die kalf is in die put", which is in turn derived from a Biblical source, vide Luke 14:5.
