American Fulbright professors for UCT

Three American scholars will visit UCT over the next year as American Fulbright Visiting Professors.

Professor William Barker will teach and conduct research at the law faculty for six weeks, beginning in August. He will mainly lecture in international tax law, European tax law and other tax laws. He will also conduct research on tax competition as a efficient stimulus to attracting foreign capital. UCT will share Barker with the University of Witwatersrand and the University of the Free State.

Dr Robert Edgar will teach and conduct research in historical studies from January next year, for a period of 11 months. He will mainly lecture in African history and conduct research on anti-apartheid activist Christopher Gell.

Dr Leonce Ndikumana will spend 11 months at UCT, starting this month, teaching and conducting research at the School of Economics. He will lecture in macroeconomics and do research in financial intermediation, financial structure and investment.
