Rugby friendlies

In the run-up to the official start of the season on March 29, UCT's rugby sides went up against their respective Silvertree counterparts for a set of friendlies on March 8. The first side overran Silvertree by 32-5, while the second team won their contest by 29-10. In addition, the third side proved much too strong for Silvertree, winning by 65-0. The UCT under-20 A1 XV ran out against Maties in their contest, and at 18-3 winners showed that they are going to be a team to watch this year.

Hockey caps aplenty for UCT

No fewer than 11 players from the UCT women's hockey club have been selected to represent provincial and national teams to take part in the National Provincial Under-21 tournament from April 27 to May 3.

Heading the line-up is Natalie le Brun, Lauren Seaman, Kerry Skinner and Lianne Wicks, who will run out for the WP Ladies U21 side. Le Brun will also skipper the side. In addition, Jo Haw, Claire Maclaurin, Khanyisa Mbopa, Jenna Snodgrass and Kirsten Venning will represent the WP Peninsula U21 team.

More good news is that Tammy Kruger and Robyn Silverstone will be donning the green-and-gold when they represent the SA U19.
