There was plenty to celebrate on 12 July when Vice-Chancellor Professor Mamokgethi Phakeng joined staff, graduates, family members and friends to raise a glass to recognise the hard work of the 389 students honoured during the University of Cape Town’s (UCT) July graduation ceremony. The degrees and diplomas included a very special honorary doctorate, which was presented to treason trialist and UCT alumnus Denis Goldberg, in recognition of his unwavering and indelible contribution to the country, the continent and the world at large. The qualifications conferred comprised 102 doctoral degrees, 61 master’s degrees, 143 MBAs, one honours degree and 82 diplomas and certificates. Michael Hammond was there to capture the celebrations.
