Applications for The Pitch UCT 2020 are open, and University of Cape Town (UCT) students are encouraged to showcase their entrepreneurial prowess for the chance to win up to R25 000 and six months of mentoring.

Brought to you by the Academic Representative Council in partnership with the Office of the Vice Chancellor, The Pitch is an annual developmental space for students to showcase their entrepreneurial innovation and pitch their business ideas to a panel of four high-profile judges.

The Pitch UCT 2020 is open to all UCT students, providing that the following eligibility requirements are met:

  • The applicant must be a UCT student.
  • Your team can include more than one member.
  • Your pitch should be either in idea or testing phase or COVID-19 response (developing prototype and proof of concept / have a working product being tested).
  • Applicants must have a desire to help other teams and contribute to the community as a whole.

Entrants will benefit from a design-thinking workshop hosted by UCT’s Hasso Plattner School of Design Thinking (d-school), a Rapid Launch Technique workshop hosted by the UCT Graduate School of Business Solution Space, and pointers on delivering pitches by the Allan Gray Orbis Foundation.

Applications close on Friday, 2 October 2020, and the final pitch will be held on 10 November 2020.
