UCT Vice-Chancellor, Professor Mamokgethi Phakeng, welcomed Professor Sue Harrison on board UCT’s executive team as the university’s new Deputy Vice-Chancellor (DVC) for Research and Internationalisation and celebrated a rare all-women academic leadership team in higher education.

Along with Vice-Chancellor Professor Mamokgethi Phakeng, Harrison joins Associate Professor Lis Lange (DVC Teaching and Learning) and Professor Loretta Feris (DVC Transformation) to complete the university’s academic leadership structure.

Welcoming Harrison to the Leadership Lekgotla, Phakeng said the fact that all four executive leaders of the academic enterprise are woman marks a significant transformation milestone in academia and leadership positions, in South Africa and globally.
