Playwright and actor Paul Slabolepszy and director Bobby Heaney, both UCT alumni, have teamed up again to create a distinctly South African experience in Suddenly the Storm.

Slabolepszy (Dwayne) and Charmaine Weir-Smith (Shanell) are a white South African working-class couple. Between the trials of everyday live, Dwayne’s bereavement and the couple’s competing hopes and dreams, they are on the verge of imploding.

What is the real root of Dwayne’s anger and heartbreak? With the arrival of the truth-seeking Renate Stuurman (Namhla), answers are imminent.

Suddenly the Storm runs from 7 to 15 June and again from 19 June to 8 July at 19:00 nightly, with selected matinees. There is an age restriction of 16 years.
