In celebration of South African Pride Month, The University of Cape Town’s (UCT) Office for Inclusivity and Change, RainbowUCT and the Faculty of Health Sciences' Gender and Sexual Diversity Advocate hosted a round table discussion which focused on recognising and unpacking African and queer histories. Panellists and the audience acknowledged that while South Africa has many victories to celebrate, challenges remain. The event was also celebratory in nature, featuring many pride-related goodies, including rainbow cupcakes, pride stickers, pronoun badges and an interactive poster of the South African Pride flag, with a prompt for attendees to populate with messages about what pride means for them.
