In celebration of national Heritage Month in September, the University of Cape Town’s (UCT) Development and Alumni Department arranged a bespoke campus tour for friends of the university, alumni and Summer School participants, which focused on the university’s heritage.

The tour, led by alumnus Alderman Owen Kinahan, began at the steps of the iconic Sarah Baartman Hall after which participants walked the length of University Avenue, looking at buildings and sites and the individuals associated with their history. This included the Steve Biko Building, fountain, urns, the New Lecture Theatre, and the Adamastor and Van Hunks bronzes, after which they enjoyed a sumptuous lunch.
