The women residents of Fuller Hall had a very special guest to dinner on Friday, 26 July, when University of Cape Town (UCT) Vice-Chancellor Professor Mamokgethi Phakeng addressed students at their academic dinner. Fuller academic representative Netja Ngoasheng welcomed the VC, who also enjoyed a hearty meal of butternut soup, stuffed chicken breast and Malva pudding with the students during an evening that also saw several awards handed out. Fuller Hall marked its 90th anniversary last year. One of the university’s oldest residences, it was established in 1928 but named only in 1950 after Maria Emmeline Barnard Fuller, one of the first four women to enrol at UCT in 1887. Michael Hammond was at the dinner to capture all the excitement.
