The University of Cape Town’s (UCT) Year in Review 2021 reflects on the institution’s challenges and victories – showcasing the university’s continued works of excellence, transformation and social responsiveness.

The year 2021 was marked by challenges including the loss of key figures who dedicated their lives to the higher education project; as well as staff and students who succumbed to COVID-19. The university also suffered damaged to its facilities due to the devastating Table Mountain fire. Despite this, staff and students continued to pursue excellence which is reflected through graduation ceremonies, Annual Awards and the Chancellor’s Installation.
