Disability rights activist Mzolisi Toni received an honorary doctorate on Friday, 22 July during the University of Cape Town’s (UCT) first live and in person PhD graduation ceremony since the start of the global COVID-19 pandemic.

Mzolisi Toni’s efforts to advance disability rights in South Africa since the early 1990’s culminated in the first Postgraduate Diploma in Disability Studies being launched at UCT in 2003.
