The 2021 TB Davie Memorial Lecture

Video Edit Nico Badenhuizen.The 2021 TB Davie Memorial Lecture at the University of Cape Town (UCT) was presented by Professor Yunis Ballim from the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Witwatersrand. The lecture was titled “Ours is to educate, not to captivate – teaching, learning and student development in a context of academic freedom”.
The annual memorial lecture was established 55 years ago by UCT students in honour of former UCT Vice-Chancellor Professor Thomas Benjamin Davie, who was a defender of the principles of academic freedom.
