Executive to host second online staff assembly

29 September 2020 | From Kgethi

Dear colleagues

We held our first online staff assembly on Tuesday, 14 May when the country was under lockdown alert Level 5. Since then, there have been many developments at the University of Cape Town (UCT), with the country recently having moved to lockdown alert Level 1 on 21 September. We have had a phased return of some students and staff members to campus and this continues in line with government regulations and protocols.

Together with the UCT executive, I invite staff to another online staff assembly, where there will be an update on UCT’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic and the university’s thinking on the phased return to work on campus in the future. The executive will provide updates from their various portfolios and there will be an opportunity for questions and to address concerns from staff.

We would like to commend our staff for their continued commitment and resilience in working through this incredibly challenging period, and for the efforts in helping to keep the university afloat.

The online staff assembly will be held from 11:30 to 13:00 on Tuesday, 13 October via the Microsoft Teams platform.

We encourage staff to send any questions they may have prior to the meeting. These can be sent to colleen.jeftha@uct.ac.za.

We look forward to engaging with you all.

Sincerely

Professor Mamokgethi Phakeng
Vice-Chancellor
