AlumniReconnecting: Senior alumni attended a lunch event at the Bull Run in Sandton hosted by the DAD team

A group of senior alumni were treated to a Heritage Society lunch at the Bull Run in Sandton by UCT's Development and Alumni Department (DAD) on 24 May.

Guests included Owen Garvie, Vince Bender, Dr Hilary Geber and Peter Horwitz, as well as husband and wife Geraldine and Allistair Williams, who met at UCT in the 1960s when she was in Fuller and he in Smuts.

According to alumna Geraldine Williams, it was not uncommon for people of that era to have met their future spouse at UCT. However, many have lost contact with the institution and university friends.

It's wonderful to be given the opportunity to re-connect, she added.

"We so appreciate the Development and Alumni Department bringing UCT to Gauteng," said Williams.

Jasmine Erasmus, DAD individual giving officer, said, "What we learn from these gatherings are always priceless. The memories and stories of UCT in the past and the wealth of knowledge and experience our alumni have to offer is considerable. We hope to host more small reunions in order to afford opportunities for our alumni to gather at these fora."
