Dress it up, advises HAICU

04 February 2010

DJ Suga (in white shirt) was the MC and judge for the HIV/AIDS Co-ordination - UCT's (HAICU) AIDS awareness Dress it Up fashion show, held on Tuesday as part of O-Week. Eight teams were each handed a goodie bag filled with pens, materials, newspapers and plenty of condoms. They then had 15 minutes to dress up a model and express, through their designs, the message of safe sex. After a too-close-to-call voting exercise - cheers and applause from the crowd - Suga named Sino Khuzwayo (fifth from left) and Thando Gayiya (second from right) as winner and runner-up, respectively. The Radio Good Hope DJ also had a message of her own: "Always use a condom. Your life depends on it." (HAICU ran free HIV/AIDS testing at the sports centre on upper campus from 10h00- 15h00, Monday to Friday this week.)
