Chancellor heads child organisation

02 November 2009

Chancellor Graça Machel has announced the launch of the Campaign to End Paediatric AIDS (CEPA), which will work to upscale paediatric-HIV diagnosis, treatment and care programmes in, initially, six sub-Saharan African nations. The campaign will target policy and implementation bottlenecks in Kenya, Mozambique, Nigeria, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia. "On the continent, we are facing a potential human, social and economic devastation of Africa's future generations as a consequence of the impact of HIV and AIDS on our children," said Machel, who will chair the campaign's pan-African leadership council. The campaign is supported by the Global AIDS Alliance, which provides financial and technical resources to civil-society organisations in the six countries.
