Sawyer series kicks off

The Department of Social Anthropology hosted a discussion on Ubuntu and the Law, the first event in its 2009 Sawyer Seminar Series, on 5 August. The series, funded by the US-based Mellon Foundation, will take place over the next 18 months and will investigate four themes - Personhood, the Body and Health and Healing, History and Archiving, and Notions of Nature. Speakers at the Ubuntu and the Law meeting included (from left) Prof John Comaroff, DVC Prof Thandabantu Nhlapo, Dr Hylton White, Prof Drucilla Cornell and Prof Mogobe Ramose.
