US Military visits BISRU

A delegation from the US military visited UCT's Blast Impact Research Unit (BISRU) on 13 March as part of a visit to meet with various South African defence industries and educational institutions. The 10-strong delegation from the US Army Research, Development and Engineering Command (RDECOM) are specifically interested in BISRU's research on car, train, aircraft and shipping accidents, as well as explosions in industrial plants and landmine injuries. The RDECOM visitors were given a tour of the unit and a presentation on its published research and international links with industry and academia.
