Welcome: Vice-Chancellor Dr Max Price addresses foreign students here on the university's semester study-abroad programme

Vice-Chancellor Dr Max Price welcomed over 340 foreign students to UCT, who are here on the university's semester study-abroad programme on 15 July.

Students from as far as Venezuela, Japan and the Scandinavian countries will spend six months here on the programme, carrying on their academic studies while also experiencing South African life.

"Your arrival provides the opportunity for the UCT community to interact with you and learn about many different countries and cultures, and allows the university to extend itself to the rest of the world," Price said in his welcoming address.

The students also took part in a festive drum circle at the welcome function, which was hosted by the International Academic Programmes Office.
