Dr Max Price started his tenure as Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cape Town on 1 July.
Price's appointment was announced in October 2007. Prior to his appointment, Price, a former Rhodes Scholar and dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences of the University of Witwatersrand, was an independent consultant in the fields of public health, health policy, medical education, and human resources for health planning. He also consulted to the national Department of Education on the financing of tertiary education for health professionals.
He is UCT's ninth Vice-Chancellor.
