VC praises donors

Vice-Chancellor and Principal, Professor Njabulo S Ndebele, has hailed the significant contribution made by donors who support postgraduate students at UCT.

The university values the nature of the scholarships and fellowships being offered these days as it means more than just financial support, said Ndebele at the 2007 Postgraduate Fellowship Cocktail Party on 4 December.

"When you win a fellowship it is entering into a partnership, exploring certain values and contributing to make life possible," he told donors and recipients.

Among the donors at the event were David and Elaine Potter of the David and Elaine Potter Charitable Trust in the UK, as well as representatives of the Harry Crossley Research Foundation, the Mandela Rhodes Foundation, the Thabo Mbeki Leadership in Africa Scholarship, the Stephen Bantu Biko Leadership Fellowship and the Solm Yach Fellowship.
