UCT applauds victorious Boks

"We love you Bokke!"

That was the official word from the UCT community as scores of students and staff thronged Woolsack Drive to welcome the victorious Springboks, en route to a massive celebration at Newlands Stadium.

This is where the gold Webb Ellis Trophy, spoils from the seven-week Rugby World Cup campaign in France, will reside for the next four years. And perhaps the next, if the buoyant mood is anything to go by.

As the bus drove down towards the Main Road, fans erupted. In the wake of Sasol's Springbok bus came a cavalcade of die-hard Bok supporters. Flags fluttered, vuvuzelas barked and horns sounded.

Up on the pedestrian bridge opposite Kopano, music blared and an impromptu party got underway to Johnny Clegg & Savuka's Impi..
