Over 320 international students have joined UCT for the second half of the year on the university's semester abroad programme. The students took part in a festive drum circle at a welcome function in the Kramer Law Building on 23 July, hosted by the International Academics Programmes Office (IAPO).
The circle, which was facilitated by musicians from the Drum Café, gave the students the opportunity to play djembe drums and learn the basics of the art of drumming.
The students hail mainly from North America and Europe, the lion's share coming from the US.
