Pitch perfect: The UCT first XI cricket side with the national club trophy.

All the teams of the FNB UCT rugby club got off to a reasonable start to the 2003 rugger season, with the first, second and third teams confidently winning their home games against Pniel Villagers. The first team won 22-13, scoring three tries. In turn, the second team thrashed their counterparts by 71-8, crossing their opponents' tryline all of 11 times. Earlier, the third team defeated their opposition by 42-5, touching down eight times.

The Stormers under-21 side that played in Durban two weeks ago featured three UCT students in its starting line-up. These were James Richards, Mpho Mbiyozo and Jayden Hill.

The UCT first XI cricket team won the Western Province League recently by convincingly beating Langa CC. This makes them double champions in winning the national and Western Province club leagues.
