UCT aims to address plight of student facing fee debt
The University of Cape Town (UCT) will host its inaugural UCT Day on Friday, 6 October 2023 with the noble intention of alleviating the plight of students facing fee debt, which affects almost half of the student population.

More funding needed to support the care of older persons - UCT report
Whilst the economic value of the support to older persons in South Africa has grown, it has not been increased sufficiently to meet the needs of a growing older population, nor has it been adequately linked to inflation, a report released on Sunday, 1 October 2023 by the University of Cape Town’s (UCT) Family Caregiving Programme (FCP) has found.

UCT to benefit from multi-million USAID funding to develop HIV-Aids vaccines

Spiritual calling impacts a quarter of UCT students' academic experience – survey
Preliminary results from the University of Cape Town’s (UCT) Student Wellness Service (SWS) Indigenous Health Survey showed that 25% of the students sampled are undergoing an indigenous or African spiritual rite of passage that impacts their academic experience. They, and others, need appropriate support systems within a holistic UCT health and wellness framework that recognises diverse traditional medicine practices.

Antiviral drug for COVID-19 infections linked to SARS-CoV-2 mutations
Researchers at the University of Cape Town (UCT) were part of a collaboration that has uncovered a link between an antiviral drug for COVID-19 infections called molnupiravir and a pattern of mutations in the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
