
On Monday, 24 November, Vice-Chancellor Professor Mosa Moshabela will host the UCT Staff Awards 2025, which serve to honour and celebrate exceptional individuals at UCT for their contributions through excellence and dedication in research, teaching and service.
The celebration acknowledges staff receiving Long Service Awards and the Vice-Chancellor’s Excellence Awards. Awards being presented at this year’s event include the UCT Book Award, Meritorious Book Prize, Creative Works Award, Meritorious Creative Works Award, Fellowship Award, Social Responsiveness Award and UCT President of Convocation Medal. The evening also hails staff members who have received ad hominem promotions that will take effect at the beginning of 2025.
For their role in conceptualising the UCT Chatbot project and supporting its successful implementation, Dr Riashna Sithaldeen and Dr Deepti Charitar were named recipients of the 2025 VC’s Service Excellence Award.
