During the final graduation ceremony of the season, the University of Cape Town (UCT) celebrated its Faculty of Humanities postgraduates at 14:00 on Wednesday, 10 September 2025. The ceremony took place in the historic Sarah Baartman Memorial Hall, which was officially renamed in honour of Sarah Baartman as part of the September 2025 Graduation season. The renaming during this graduation ceremony will be followed by a special colloquium on Thursday, 11 September 2025 to honour her legacy.
Students from all postgraduate disciplines in the humanities received their degrees in recognition of their dedication, scholarship, and commitment to societal transformation.
As graduates crossed the stage, they did so under a name that embodies dignity, memory and justice, a reminder that each degree conferred is part of a broader story of transformation and hope.
The UCT community congratulates all graduates and celebrates their contributions to knowledge, culture and society.
