After a jam-packed orientation week, it was time for the University of Cape Town’s 2020 first-year students to kick up their heels and have some fun at the annual First-years’ Braai held on Thursday, 30 January, on the Green Mile on upper campus.
Hundreds of new students enjoyed some good food, live music and a pep talk from Vice-Chancellor Professor Mamokgethi Phakeng. Students also shared their hopes and dreams, and what it means to them to be studying at UCT.
The annual event offers incoming students a chance to make new friends within the university community before the hard work begins.
