Prof Michael Kyobe has been appointed acting Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Research and Internationalisation.

Professor Michael Kyobe will stand in as acting Deputy Vice-Chancellor (DVC) for Research and Internationalisation until the conclusion of the recruitment process for the new DVC.

This follows the appointment of the former DVC for this portfolio, Professor Mamokgethi Phakeng, as Vice-Chancellor on 1 July.

Kyobe was the Deputy Dean of Research and Internationalisation in the Faculty of Commerce. He has a long association with UCT, having joined the university as an associate professor of information systems in 2004. In 2014 he was promoted to full professor. He is a National Research Foundation-rated researcher.

At an institutional level, Kyobe serves as a member of the following committees: University Research Committee, Committee for Research Reviews, the Postgraduate Student Funding Committee and the eRA Project Implementation Committee. He also serves on several external national and international bodies.
