Science awards

The Faculty of Science hosted its first faculty research awards on 24 May.

Three prizes were handed out - two for the best-cited research papers for work done at UCT over the period 2008-2012, in which a UCT researcher played a leadership role, and the Dean's medal for the top PhD student for 2011.

In the publications category for best-cited research papers, Prof William Bond was named the winner in the professor/associate professor category, while Dr Chris Clarkson won the lecturer/senior lecturer category.

The Dean's Medal for the best PhD student in 2011, bequeathed by Prof Daya Reddy, former dean of the faculty, was awarded to Dr Jasper Slingsby (in picture, middle, with Prof Jeremy Midgley and dean, Prof Anton le Roex).
